Edson Cordeiro’s musical career has been no less unusual than his voice. At the age of 6 he began singing with a church choir in his hometown São Paulo. Age 9 he left school and became a well known street singer familiar with and seemingly fond of all styles - operatic, pop, rock, alleyway and modern Brazilian. By the end of the 80s his unusual talent was recognized. He appeared on television, recorded his first album for Sony, Brazil, in 1992, and was in 1996 awarded the Prêmio Sharp, acclaimed as Brazil’s best pop-singer.
This man has a range of more than four octaves, with it he easily illustrates everything from Prince to Bizet; from Flamenco to Jazz; from Opera to Gospel; from Rock to Brazilian techno... and appears at such varied venues as The Carnival of Salvador da Bahia, at European Jazz festival's and at concerts with Symphony Orchestra's.
In 2005 he gave a celebrated performance at Södra Teatern, and now he is back with a new show: "The Woman's Voice" a dedication to some of the biggest female voices in modern history. Billie Holiday, Shirley Bassey, Zarah Leander, Yma Sumac, Madonna and Edith Piaf will all be interpreted by Edson's own special approach, with lashings of humor and an extra dose of glitter and glamour....
