Södra Teatern

Södra Teatern is Sweden’s foremost international venue for music, theatre & debate and a part of Rikstetern, Swedish National Theatre. Since 1997, focus has been set on staging international performances seldom chanced in established mainstream settings. Such diverse events as club-scene entertainment, readings and child philosophy offers. The venue is Stockholms oldest theatre house and situated in the heart of Stockholm’s bohemian pulse, with a breathtaking view over the city. Although being a theatre house, the main focus is music. The venue enjoys a solid reputation not only in Sweden but throughout the world, attracting vibrant locals and leading luminaries alike. Over 600 events are presented around the calendar on a daily basis. Highlights include Martha Wainwright, Tinariwen, La Clique, Anthony and the Johnsons, Balkan Beat Box, Jane Birkin, The Gypsy Queens and Kings, Nick Cave, Rachid Taha, Naomi Klein, Umbilical Brothers, Calle 13, Rokia Traoré, The Tiger Lillies, Cristina Branco, Sparks, Los de Abajos, Cheikha Remitti, Marc Almond, Taylor Mac, Ronnie Burkett, Cornelius, Coldplay, and many, many more.
Södra Teaterns main stage is a beautiful and intimate lounge and appointed in green and gold with red velvet chairs. Artists and the audience mingle in the beautiful bar where you can expect great drinks, brilliant food with Stockholm at your feet! And during the summer months, people sit outside on the large veranda and enjoy the latest in international music. Special DJ:s present their favourites and creates the special feeling that made the venue famous. Kägelbanan (the Bowling, Alley), Södra Teatern’s second stage and a black box, seats 600 people.
